COMPEITIORS:
This match is a follow-on to the CMP/Military Rifle Clinic. All match participants must be Chapter members, have successfully completed the Range Orientation, and attended the CMP/Military Rifle Clinic on August 22, 2009.
RIFLES, GEAR & CLOTHING
Match is open to any iron-sight, AS ISSUED, semi-automatic-only service rifle (or commercial equivelant) manufactured or adopted for use after 1898. Examples of permitted rifles include: Mauser 98k, 1903 Springfield, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, AK-47, SKS, M-14/M1A, FN-FAL, AR-15, Galil, R4, G3, etc.
Some additional guidance as to what is permissible:
- Chapter rules forbid firearms capable of full-automatic fire. All rifles must be semi-auto only.
- Rifle must have been, or currently be, a standard issue battle rifle of a recognized country.
- Rifle must be "AS ISSUED" without modification. Yes, we know there are highly specialized rifles in almost every military's inventory. But this match is intended for the basic grunt-rifle. Think more in terms of a beat-up, well-used 30-year-old AK (the international peasant's rifle) rather than a tricked-out, high-speed/low-drag M-4.
Factory ammo only. If factory ammo is not availalbe due to the rarity of the caliber, then handloads may be used at the discretion of the Match Officials. [Due to the current shortage of ammo, the Match Director has suspended this rule.]
- No heavy barrels, vertical foregrips, or optical sights.
- Standard web or leather sling. No tactical slings, sling cuffs, or slings wider than 1 1/4 inches.
- No magazines larger than 30-rounds. This is to prevent the magazine being used as a ground rest in the prone position.
- The trigger must be capable of lifting a three-pound weight when cocked.
- The use of shooting mats in the prone position, spotting scopes or binoculars, is permitted.
- The use of special shooting jackets, shooting pants and gloves (such as those used in smallbore and high-power rifle competition) are not permitted.
- All determinations of the Match Official as to the permissibility of rifles and equipment is final.
